Sponsor: Bonnie Shoff Bonnie
knew she would become an artist
at a very young age. After being designated the “school artist” at
Olmsted Falls High School, she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in
printmaking and painting and a master of arts degree in art education
from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Upon graduation, she traveled
extensively and spent two years with the Peace Corps teaching art and
English in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
Her professional career began as an illustrator for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Mo., where she designed gift wrap and gift cards. Later she freelanced for eight years designing 12-month calendars and greeting cards for card companies. In 1978 she and her husband moved to Sandusky. She taught junior high art at St. Mary’s Central Catholic for four years. Bonnie retired after teaching design foundations at Bellevue High School. Currently she teaches K-12 art at Kelleys Island School and continues to conduct artistry workshops and to do free-lance design. |
